Levis / Trow Mound Mountain Biking

The Levis/Trow Mound Recreational Area is located in the southwest corner of Clark County and provides over 41 miles of trails winding through a portion of the nearly 135,000-acre county forest. This area marks the beginning of Wisconsin's "Driftless" region, featuring prominent sandstone bluffs and mounds that create a unique visual backdrop for trail users.

The area is managed to conserve the natural environment and wildlife habitat while maintaining recreational access and a sustained forestry program. The main trailhead includes potable water, flush restrooms, an open-air shelter, showers (seasonal), and a warming chalet during the winter riding season.

Bruce Mound Winter Activities

Bruce Mound Winter Sports area offers family-friendly skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in Clark County. Features include:

  • Lighted trails for night skiing & state-of-the-art snowmaking coverage
  • 10 scenic slopes (2 beginner, 2 intermediate, 6 advanced)
  • 5 Lifts (1 triple chair, 2 T-bars, 1 rope tow, 1 handle tow)
  • 5 snow tubing runs with dedicated rope tow
  • 375-foot vertical rise with a maximum slope length of 3,000 feet
  • Chalet with restaurant, rental shop, ski patrol, and instruction

Clark County Birding Areas: 17% of Clark County is public county forest (133,000 acres). Key bird watching sites include Mead Lake County Parks (North & South), Rock Dam Lake County Park, Schmidt Maple Woods State Natural Area, and Sportsman Lake Wildlife Area.

Jackson County Birding Areas: Nearly one-third of Jackson County consists of state and county forests. Top birding destinations include Bauer Brockway Barrens, Bear Bluff Peatlands, Black River State Forest & Dike 17, Castle Mound Pine Forest SNA, Jay Creek Pine Forest SNA, and Wazee Lake Recreation Area.
